The Tears of a Woman

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

A friend mentioned today that the tears of a woman are very dangerous. I thought about it, and I concurred. They can make a man do something he never intended to do, and to open his mind to decisions he never thought he might’ve taken. The moment a tear rolls down the cheeks of someone who matters, be it friend, lover, family, our vaunted intellectual capabilities become useless. The point of any argument up to then becomes beside the point. When a woman laments, it is a heartbreaking thing.

Why do you cry, woman? For whom do you mourn? The sun rises tomorrow still and the birds will sing; do not yearn for the past. Instead learn from it, and remember that the best is yet to come. The past is but a pale shadow of the things that lay ahead: the memories  to come that will make you so much happier, so much fuller in life.

The best is yet to come, and you will miss it if you spend all your time looking at the ground, thinking of what might’ve been, instead of looking ahead,  ready to seize the opportunity when it passes you by.

Carpe diem, memento mori!
